Why should we embrace free markets?
The free market is how a free society shares its wealth among diverse populations. The free market is the best way to relieve poverty. By far, it is the one and only economic system proven to benefit the largest number of people. Of course, the free market operates within a social and moral framework to mitigate injustices and unnatural inequities.
The role of government in a free market is to keep the rules fair for everyone, avoid creating inequities, and adjust rules to overcome market failures (such as monopolies, public goods, externalities, etc.).
