Why doesn’t liberalism work?
Liberalism doesn’t work because the basis of its governing theory is equality, not freedom. Equality is a major component of a free society but it is not its center. Furthermore, the equality of modern liberalism (or progressivism) seeks equality of outcomes.
A free society embracing equality seeks equality of opportunity, wherein all people are granted equality under the law to seek what personal talents and hard work can get them. Liberalism also fails in addressing human failure. It uses government to make up human shortfalls instead of voluntary charitable service.
In other words, liberalism replaces direct human aid with indirect and impersonal government programs to assist people in need. The result is an increase in the impersonal hand of government and a decrease in the community bonds and personal relationships required to maintain a free society.
